SCRIP cards are basically gift cards. You buy the SCRIP at face value, you redeem it at face value, but the Band gets a percentage of that value (kind of like an automatic rebate).  BUT, and here is the really cool part about these cards, you don't have to give them away! Yes, you can purchase SCRIP to give as gifts, but they really benefit the Band when you buy them just to make your normal shopping purchases.

Take a look at the very partial list of stores that accept SCRIP cards - just like cash! When you buy with your SCRIP cards at these stores, the Band gets a percentage of each purchase. You need groceries, you go to Albertsons, or Tom Thumb, or HEB, or Wal-Mart you use your SCRIP cards and the Band gets paid.  You need clothes at Kohl's, or shoes at Footlocker, or you order a cool sweater from LL Bean or Eddie Bauer, you use your SCRIP cards and the Band gets paid.  You need books or music from iTunes, or Amazon.com, or Borders or Barnes & Noble, you use your SCRIP cards and the Band gets paid.

If we all used SCRIP cards for our regular purchases, our regular shopping would bring thousands of dollars in for our Band. This fundraiser does not gather money from students or parents, it gathers money from merchants.

What do I have to do?  The first step is to make sure your weekly spending pattern involves UnitedScrip vendors! (See vendor list - now includes Wal-Mart).  Make sure you place your SCRIP order to include your grocery, gas, clothing, dining out, and travel needs in anticipation of your weekly spending habits.  If you maximize your use of SCRIP cards, our Band will earn maximum profits!!  And you will not have spent one penny more than you would before SCRIP, you have just increased your buying power to earn money for the Band!!
